2007 Digicel CIGFC GAELIC FOOTBALL LEAGUE RULES

·         Standard Gaelic Football Rules to apply

·         Maximum 13 players a side for the men & maximum 8 players a side plus guy goalie for the ladies.

·         Teams must match each other numbers wise to a minimum of 11 (men) and 6 (ladies). Subs can be taken at the agreement of the opposing captain and a member of the Exec committee (2 separate persons).

·         Games will consist of two 10 minute halves with a 3 minute break for half-time.

·         We enjoyed a very fair season last year with no sendings off. Referees will again be putting particular emphasis on penalising foul play and dissent. Free kicks, 10 yard penalties, yellow cards and dismissals will be issued at the referee’s discretion. Captains to play increased role in keeping cool heads.

·         At the end of the season the top two teams in the men's and ladies league will play-off in the final. The 3rd and 4th placed teams will play off for 3rd place. The top two teams will be the 2 sides who have accumulated the most points over the course of the season. Should there be a tie, points difference will decide. If that doesn’t separate teams then total points scored will carry the result. If teams are still tied, the team with the least amount of yellow/red cards will advance and if in the unlikely event the sides remain in parallel then a coin toss will decide who will advance to the play-offs..

·         Yellow cards will result in a player being binned for 5 minutes. A player will receive a red card for a 2nd yellow card bookable offence. A player will receive an automatic 2 game ban for receiving 2 yellows / 1 red card in a game. Depending on the 2nd yellow / red card offence the player may be banned for longer. All ban decisions at the complete discretion of the Executive committee.

·         Should a team lose players over the course of the season – long term injury, leaving island, incarcerated!, or other then the Exec committee will be charged with replacing that player with a player of equal standard as far as is possible.

·         Every year throws up a new quirk. The Exec committee is charged with making this season a fun but competitive event for all and have the power to make any decisions necessary over the course of the season to make sure this responsibility is fulfilled.

·         No pay, no play
